Effects of Microbial Liquid Manure on Growth and Yield of Leaf Lettuce
Kang Bong-Kyoon

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of microbial liquid manure (MLM) on growth and yield of two cultivars of leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). Three treatments of 1,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM, 2,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM, and 1,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM£«microbial 600 §¸/10 a fermented compost (MFC) were employed. MLM was sprayed 3 times on leaves at 10, 20, and 40 days after transplanting and MFC was treated in the soil prior to transplanting. Leaf length of leaf lettuce were significantly increased with all microbial manure treatments at 60 days after transplanting. Number of leaves and chlorophyll contents were increased with 2,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM and 1,000 mg¡¤L?©ö MLM + 600 §¸/10 a MFC treatments compared to control. Leaf and root fresh weights were superior in order of 1,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM£«600 §¸/10 a MFC, 2,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM, and 1,000 §·¤ýL?©ö MLM treatments. According to cultivar, leaf fresh weight was 37% higher in ¡®Chungchima¡¯ (259.7 g) than in ¡®Juokchima¡¯ (189.4 g).
